Milestone Birthday Event Spotlight at Ziegfeld Ballroom

The Ziegfeld Ballroom event team has shared the details of the planning with us along with how Allseated asssisted in the process.

About Ziegfeld Ballroom:

Ziegfeld Ballroom is New York City’s premier special events venue. Conjuring the elegance and grandeur of the 1920s movie palaces that once lined Broadway and Seventh Avenue, Ziegfeld Ballroom is a Manhattan mecca for society galas and corporate events. Our Art Deco-inspired space is as iconic as the historic theatre from which it takes its name: both steeped in heritage and equipped with cutting edge technology, Ziegfeld Ballroom is the intersection of glamorous days-gone-by and of-the-moment modernity.

Opening its doors in 1969, The Ziegfeld was constructed as a grand, single-screen movie palace just steps away from the original Ziegfeld Theatre—a landmark unto itself—built by Broadway impresario Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr., in 1927. From its opening night until the curtain fell for seemingly the last time in 2016, the theatre hosted more premieres of Hollywood blockbuster films than any other venue outside of Los Angeles. In Fall 2017, the curtain rose once again, this time for a unique second act: as a sophisticated event space inspired by the luxury ocean liners of the 1930s. Designed by prolific architect Richard Bloch with a crisp interior palette of silver and white redolent of its Art Deco heritage, the column-free ballroom can be configured to accommodate over 1,300 guests and lives on as a premier venue—a place where history continues to be made.

Event Details:

We hosted a magnificent milestone Birthday Party with an epic vendor team including Victoria Dubin Events and décor provided by Ed Libby & Company Events.

How Allseated Assisted in the Planning Process:

Designing the event floorplans for this birthday party were a critical part of the planning process. This event utilized two levels which we were easily created using Allseated’s floorplan tools.

We worked closely with our vendor team to ensure all details were included in the floorplan. The collaborative aspect of Allseated was key so that everyone involved in the event stayed up to date on all changes and adjustments. The floorplan helped everyone to visualize the layout in advance of the event.

We worked with Ed Libby intently on the designing floorplan layout. He provided us with the furniture pieces and dimensions for the tunnel as well, so that we could plug each detail into the floorplan to ensure it all fit appropriately within the layout. The to-scale nature of Allseated floorplans is a wonderful and necessary feature!

We used a variety of table sizes for this event, some we had in-house and some were brought in from the decorator, so we color-coded the floorplan to reflect that. The color coding was critical for our banquet team so that they clearly understood which tables were coming from the decorator and which were our in-house tables. The color coding within the floorplan made it easy for operations to differentiate the tables during the setup, making the process more efficient and seamless.

We were also able to include the dance floor within the layout with accurate dimensions and the audiovisual team for our venue was able to collaborate on the floorplan as well. They came in once our floorplan layout was finalized in order to add their elements, including where they needed to run power for the event including uplights for the tunnel. This proved very helpful for set up purposes, to know exactly within the floorplan where wires would be going.

The decorator was able to see what was added by our audiovisual team which helped him to understand where the uplights would be to ensure they were in a good place for his set up needs too. Having the uplights in the floorplan also provided a way to count the number of lights used in the floorplan in comparison to the proposal, ensuring accuracy.

With the photorealistic viewing of the floorplans for this event, visualization was truly enhanced and really gave a feel for what the event space and floorplan would look like on the actual day of the party.
